Because of inflation, resulting in large from the aftermath of Covid, the cost of housing, utilities, food prices, transportation, fossil fuels, and every single need and want has grown exponentially…that is, except for wages. We are Made in the USA and will bring back a strong America by utilizing skilled trades to help build our American made infrastructure. We will bring back good paying jobs, by requiring prevailing wages on all government contracts and grants. And we will encourage union skilled labor in the workforces. We must build Indiana back from the middle out. But we must rebuild our middle first. We must put more cash in a worker's pocket. We must invest our money in citizens who invest in Indiana, spend their money in Indiana, and live in Indiana. We must help the local economy grow and help small businesses thrive, by making sure that all citizens of all ages and economic status have access to affordable primary, secondary, and specialized education and are able to fill the jobs of tomorrow for companies who want to locate here and pay employees well. We must support all equal work for equal pay initiatives. Lastly, we must not leave behind those on fixed incomes who can no longer sustain the daily needs due to rising costs. We must also not forget those at-home care givers who are putting their careers on hold temporarily while they care for those who cannot, or may not any longer, be able to care for themselves.
1. Freedom:
Let Freedom ring! It is the envy of the world and a diminishing quality in America and in Indiana. Freedom is the individual right to live one’s life in the manner they so choose, so long as it does not infringe upon another’s rights.
It is the ‘why’ in property ownership. As a licensed Indiana Realtor, home ownership for all who want it, is the goal. I will advocate to make homeownership possible. I will also advocate that all residents be legal citizens in the state of Indiana.
2. Constitutional Property Rights:
People’s rights are being liberally abused by the current policing powers of the State and their closely aligned allies. We shall become a more balanced and free state, as was the intent of the US Constitution. We require Indiana Democrats in Congress, in the State of Representatives and in the Senate, to defend against lopsided GOP authored laws that have taken away many property rights.
A democracy cannot exist with a one-party Super Majority Tri-fecta, led by corporate GOP agendas. In 16 of the past 20 years, Indiana has elected this Trifecta GOP administration, consisting of a GOP Governor, GOP led House of Representatives, and GOP led Senate.
Today, there are only 2 of 9 Indiana Democrats in the United States House of Representatives, just 11 of 50 Democrats in the State Senate and just 30 of 100 Democrats in the House of Representatives. The Democrats have not controlled the Indiana Senate in over 34 years!
What has that meant for YOU, your family, your lifestyle, and your wallet while big businesses are getting fat off of Indiana residents? Are your wages and property values higher than the rest of the nation? Are your utility bills and fuel taxes lower than the rest of the nation? Is your education better? Does your state have the best trained paramedics, doctors, or fire fighters? After giving up your property rights to utility companies, is your internet cheaper than the rest of the nation? Is your environment cleaner because Indiana is more business friendly? Is your healthcare better or cheaper? Is your standard of living more free, enriched, and happier than the rest of the country? If not, it might just be time to balance our State House in Indiana.
I will fight hard toward ending the trend toward Totalitarianism in the State of Indiana, and the relentless taking of our property rights, so as to return the rights and values to our citizens and not to big businesses making profit off of your land and at your expense.
The government is for the people, by the people. The Constitution makes no mention of corporations or of special groups of people. Today, the Agricultural industry is on the brink of losing riparian (water) rights to big business who want to drain the veins and sell and use the waters that previously was used in the growth of food products. Utility companies that supply safe public drinking water are also vulnerable to losing clean water supplies to big businesses who choose not to locate near costal areas, but in areas with an abundance of underground fresh drinking water and at the expense of all other stakeholders. That big vein runs right through the center of Indiana.
For as long as I have been alive, big business has taken from others like you and me in order to bolster huge profits without the consideration of other stake holders, without paying the lion's share of any tax obligations, and without valuing the employees with just compensation. Their best attorneys write bills for the super majority GOP legislature to vote into law. It is time that grass roots people who understand and recognize the attacks of big business, level the playing field so that the best non-partisan decisions can be made in government to benefit ALL people.
I support retraining and holding accountable, all officials in positions of authority who do not abide by the laws of the land. I support education and training of our most precious emergency personnel so that they have the tools and knowledge to handle situations they may incur. I support all accused individuals in their right to a fair trial by jury and for the resources for constructive legal aide.
3. Constitutional Gun Rights:
Our forefathers set forth the foundation for America in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. I pledge to support those rights. As an avid hunter/trapper, since the age of 5, I learned early on that my gun became my protection from danger. I support the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.
4. Lastly, I stand for Voting Rights for all adult US Citizens.
Be it a Man, woman, or gender neutral, Adult or Child, Young or Old, Disabled or Enabled, Healthy or not, Majority or Minority, Legal Immigrant or Native, Rich or Poor, Disadvantaged or not, all US citizens have the right to equal work for equal pay. The economy must work for everyone and we shall strive to leave no American worker left behind. We are a State that works.
Equal rights are special to me as a woman, because as American’s, there has not been enough done to protect women’s money during their childrearing years, wage earning years, and into retirement. Women are not 82% of a human being (nationally) or 73% in Indiana. Yet women have such a difficult time making the earnings to support a savings into retirement, having the fulfillment of an advancing career, and having an equally proportionate amount of social security that keeps up with that of a man doing the same exact job so as to sustain the quality of life that men are afforded on into retirement. As a result, marriage or lack there of, has become more of a financial contract or burden than a happy union at all ages of life.
Currently, and still, women have been unable to bridge the wage gap in America. And there are a decent number of women who are living without partners, raising children on their own, and all the while trying to maintain career jobs. According to Pew Research, the US Census, Forbes, and others, women still make only 82% of the wage of a man in the same job. It used to be a lot worse. And that is not all…women are not often afforded the higher paying jobs or the promotions. Progress in America is slow but is being made. And lastly, because the legislature is predominately male, the tax revenue in the forms of grants and government contracts, continues to benefit men over women. In 2023, our US Congress issued $42 Billion US Free tax-payer dollars toward the fibre optic initiative. Of that, Indiana was granted $868 Million for our electric companies to hang fiber optic cables across our private property with NO compensation to the land owners. The electric industry is rated nearly last in employment of women workers, having only 2% women in the workforce, according to the Department of Labor www.dol.gov. I will fight to balance the power by ensuring that companies who discriminate against racial and gender differences amongst our citizens and who do not properly adhere to labor laws are not afforded tax money in the form of grants or government contracts for hire. And I will fight to proportionately award women who currently live off of their own social security wages with an increase, so that they will at least make the same money that the men counterparts draw for their survival. We cannot fix the past, but we can fix their current financial inadequacies to some degree, until such time that a woman’s wage is equal to that of their male counterpart.
In the Workplace:
We must promote businesses and workers fairly, with integrity and with equal opportunity for the best wages, best grants, advancement, and leadership ability. We must support our unions, laborers, small business owners and farmers, as they are the foundation, backbone, and more importantly, the future of America. I will work hard on behalf of all caregivers to obtain the monetary resources needed to balance the scales and the responsibilities of life, all the while not giving up opportunity to advance in a career at the right time of life. I will advocate rewards for only those companies who support equal rights in the workplace and ensure that no company is afforded tax payer money that does not also support equal rights of all American citizens. Lastly, I will ensure that oversight on government programs that administer monetary resources are accurate, fair, and non-partisan.
All lives matter. Healthcare shall be for all US Citizens. Our health is dictated by our genetics, how we live our lives in the choices we make, by the environmental decisions made by our government, and in some cases because of wrongdoings of others.
The health of a person dictates the wealth of a person. In order to build a stronger, more resilient economy where everyone is able to work to their fullest potential, and where the elderly have access to health care needed in nursing facilities, we must afford all citizens full and proper healthcare that includes dental care, mental resources, aids for disabilities, wellness, and fitness so that fewer individuals become burdens on our social services and so that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the tax and social security system of our country. We must be a healthier nation that is proud, strong, solves world challenges, and cares about one other. I support the strengthening of the Affordable Care Act.
As a very young child, Sundays were reserved for grandparents and I inherited the knowledge, laughter, wisdom, and strength of grandparents. I loved those times so much, that it was always a dream of mine to create living arrangements where the elderly could keep their independence, live among friends, share their experiences and knowledge, and have the assistance required to live as normal and fruitful life as possible for as long as possible.
I believe that the housing shortage today is due in part, to the lack of available and affordable senior housing that has not kept pace with the numbers in the baby boomer generation. The elderly today are under supported in housing and medical facilities, and as such are remaining in homes that could support larger families. I will advocate to improve the lives of seniors in all phases of their living and healthcare arrangements, including those who reside in nursing homes and among family members.
The lack of senior housing, homeowner-occupied housing, and general affordable housing are issues that have grown out of the recession of 2008, when we lost so many home builders that sought other occupations and did not return to home building when the recession ended. The need for senior housing is at an all-time high with the baby boomer population moving into more manageable living arrangements throughout their aging journey. Those more easily managed arrangements alone would free up larger houses to the next generation of home ownership.
I support conservation of our most precious resources. The clean-up of water becomes increasingly difficult and costly when we do not monitor and tighten the activities of those who freely discharge water with pollutants into our streams and upon neighboring lands. I support ultra-painful penalties to those in responsible charge for knowingly discharging pollutants into our bodies of water and upon neighboring lands where citizens recreate and from where we pull our drinking water supply. It is not fiscally responsible to use tax payer dollars to clean up the pollutants in large bodies of water that are contaminated by others. Those polluters must be identified, made financially responsible for the clean-up, and jailed if necessary for the waste they create.
It is more detrimental when airborne pollutants are released into the atmosphere where clean up becomes more difficult or impossible. Our ecosystem must absorb the pollutants naturally, causing cancers and other diseases to our bodies. I equally support ultra-painful penalties for companies and the people in charge for discharging pollutants into our atmosphere that exceed the limits of the permitting authority.
District 68 is less than pure on its environmental scorecard. The mess runs downhill and our communities are at the lowest part of the state. The number of cancers in the area has drastically risen in the past few years and now has claimed the 30-40 year old population. Our lands cannot continue to carry the burden of irresponsible polluters. I will advocate for our share of environmental money for cleanup activites as a result of pollutants from uphill communities. I will also advocate for improved monitoring and identification of outfalls from industrial discharges and strengthen the penalties and fines related to those who pollute.
We love our constituents, so feel free to set up a time when we can discuss your concerns.
