I grew up a Hoosier, playing Indiana basketball. Our claim to fame was our final 8 in the State and 53 regular season wins without a loss. As a team player, I learned the value of hard work, dedication, commitment, courage, competition, and success. Life after high school rarely turns out the way that one envisions. However, from an early age, I was already empathizing with the home life of the elderly, experiencing discrimination in most jobs that I held, and then suffered the illegal taking of property rights after having worked so hard to obtain those bundle of rights. I felt a calling to participate in the mending of our Constitution, helping women who continue to suffer a lower standard of living due to wage and career gaps through child bearing years, and be a strong, experienced, legitimate, and calculated voice for all of my constituents.
The State Representatives is such an important position as laws are created that affect you and me. I feel unrepresented and I know others do too. I envision a bipartisan house; an America whereby all Constitutional rights are upheld and respected; fairness over favoritism, earnings over entitlements, accountability over corruption, and all people that are treated equally. I advocate for the terminally ill, and health care as a right. This position is important to me because the laws that I would like to benefit arose out of the state level of government. I would like to assist local government leaders to achieve their future objectives. I want to see that our river communities receive the fair share of the state’s monetary resources.
1. Economy and inflation. The gap between rich and poor grows and the wage gap between men and women persists. Making ends meet, is harder as inflation and gouging becomes rampant.
2. Defending democracy. Republicans have a trifecta in Indiana’s house. For 35 years, that reign has resulted in unconstitutional taking of property rights and civil liberties.
3. Housing. There isn’t enough good, affordable senior transitional housing to free up the homes for the next generation.
I currently sit on the Budget and Finance Committee and the Constitution and Bylaws Committee for the Southeastern Indiana Board of Realtors. I am a life member of the National Rifle Association, Department of Natural Resources, Veterans of Foreign War and the Democratic Party. I support the Indiana Farm Bureau, American Legion, Order of the Eastern Star, Moose Lodge, and Fraternal Order of Eagles through memberships. My church membership remains with the Aurora United Methodist Church. Professionally, the Southeastern Indiana Board of Realtors, IAR and NAR, the Alliance of Rural Water and the South Laughery Creek Watershed guides and completes my professions.
